About GIA Gas Industries Association (GIA) is a part of leading Global Industrial gas companies operating in India viz., INOX Air Products Pvt Ltd., Linde India Ltd., Praxair India (P) Ltd., Air Liquide India Holding Pvt. Ltd., Taiyo Nippon Sanso India and Air Water India Pvt. Ltd. GIA aims to promote safety, health, security and environmental awareness in industrial (including specialty gases) and medical gases industry. It aims to minimize occupational injuries and illnesses, avoid environmental damage, assure security of hazardous materials and promote continuous improvement in these areas. GIA is also linked with all major global gas associations like AIGA, EIGA, CGA etc. with similar objectives. With its associations and global expertise and by working closely with Indian authorities, GIA intends to introduce and maintain Global Best Practices and safety guidelines in the Industrial gases industry.
Gas Industries Association is fully committed to the safety in design, operations and use of Industrial Gases in cryogenic or pressurised formats. We are also deeply concerned about the unrelenting accidents which are happening in our country across these formats. While we may follow the stringent safety measures, we feel that the awareness often gets diluted when the products are handled down the line by untrained or unaware users. Hence the governing council of GIA has again decided to bring out a comprehensive seminar to present and discuss these with Industry professionals. It is after all everyone's responsibility to ensure our safety and the safety of our colleagues.
This seminar on Oxygen Safety will provide a comprehensive overview of critical practices in handling, transporting, and storing oxygen across industrial and medical applications. Key topics include safe management of transport tankers—covering decanting, service changes, repairs, and statutory licensing requirements. Participants will also learn preventive maintenance and calibration of storage tanks, ensuring material compatibility of tanks and weighted parts, and proper oxygen cleaning procedures with inspection standards.
Technical sessions will highlight risks of oxygen enrichment such as dense fog, fire hazards, and cold burns with real-world examples, alongside hospital supply best practices in layout, backup systems, equipment compatibility, and changeover protocols. Case studies of incidents will be discussed to reinforce learning, while filling and handling SOPs, PPE requirements, and competency training for fillers and supervisors will be emphasized. Finally, the seminar will distinguish industrial and medical oxygen through valve specifications, color coding, and labelling, ensuring participants gain practical, regulatory, and safety-focused insights for effective oxygen management.
